Avoid The Crowds - Shop At Farmers Markets

We have heard from customers and friends, and seen firsthand, the craziness that is attempting to shop at big grocery stores during these strange times of COVID-19 pandemic. You pretty much have to be a ninja to make it through the grocery store these days!

While we support the advice of government and health officials to maintain social distance and avoid crowded areas, we also recognize that people must continue some semblance of normalcy and everyone still has to eat. For these reasons, we will continue to attend our weekly farmers markets as long as they remain open.

Farmers markets are open air spaces that are far less crowded than grocery stores so there is less physical contact and products are handled by fewer people before being purchased. The shopping experience is safer and less stressful for customers. There is better parking, fewer lines, and in most cases better inventory of fresh meats and produce than grocery stores that get wiped out first thing after opening. Besides, it’s more fun to support small local businesses during these times!

We also understand that some folks, especially people who are older or have compromised health, prefer to minimize risk of exposure and stay at home. For these folks we offer shipping through our website or local delivery in the area of our farmers markets. Local customers may email fish@savoryalaska.com to get on our delivery schedule.

The markets we currently participate in are:

Tuesday at Sun City 9AM - 12PM (Cancelled until further notice.)

Friday at Lago Vista 2:30PM - 6:30PM

Saturday at Leander 9AM - 1PM

Saturday at Wolf Ranch 8:30AM - 1PM

There are many other markets around, these just happen to be the ones we participate in. You don’t have to shop at any of our markets, or even shop at our booth, but please consider avoiding crowded grocery stores and supporting small local businesses and food producers by shopping at farmers markets first!
